KMA should force the rest to join us, we are ready- Market queenmother

The head of fish importers (Adwene kwansohemaa) at the Kumasi central market, Nana Ampong has commended the Kumasi metropolitan assembly for making a step that could help move recalcitrant fish sellers and others who are still at the central business area to the Racecourse.

She has however called on the authorities to make sure they force such recalcitrant people to the Racecourse. She said KMA authorities shouldn't relent on their authority, but should rather make sure that all those who are supposed to  move to the Racecourse comply.

"We are ready, only waiting for the rest to join us. We are happy the regional minister announced they are going to compel the rest to join us by next week. The mayor has also done very well by ensuring Racecourse Market is indeed a place worth to be", she said.

It could be recalled that KMA in its quest to modernize the 2nd face of the central business area is set to move most traders from the central market to the Racecourse and other areas. Meanwhile some traders still keep on disobeying the orders of the assembly.

Speaking to this, the queenmother took the opportunity to plead with the authorities to make sure all traders who are supposed to move to the Racecourse comply. But she however called on the authorities to strengthen the security system within the Racecourse since part of the place is occupied by wee smokers and other criminals. She also called on them to fix the roads, lights were.

She finally recommended the Kumasi Mayor Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi for being on top of issues all the time, and listens to the crying of the people.

She called out on the President to retain the honourable member as a mayor of the Kumasi. She finally advised the mayor keep up his works and give quicker response to the people as he has been doing.
